If you're planning on throwing a Christmas party for your family and friends, follow these simple steps to creating the perfect party food. (Be sure to serve everything on fun Christmas plates, preferably in gold and silver with red and green napkins and silverware.)
Appetizers: Festive appetizers can set the mood for the Christmas party, and if they're warm, they offer an excellent escape from the cold weather. Everything can be served as individual servings, such as miniature quiches in a variety of flavors. Some favorites include feta and caramelized onions, broccoli and cheese, and ham and swiss. You may wish to make these in the shape of small wreaths. Or, alternatively, you could offer many different homemade flat crust pizzas before the meal. Many recipes can be found online, and there is no limit to the possibilities you can create. Main Course: For the main course, you can offer one staple, such as ham or turkey, and many side items. (Be sure to have plenty of vegetarian options for those guests who don't like meat, and remember that sauces, such as gravy or cranberry sauce, can spice up any main dish.) Side items may include Caesar and garden salad (with many dressing options), mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and a fruit platter. Green bean casserole is also a favorite holiday treat, and the recipe is often located on the back of many soup cans. Hot Drinks: Include hot cider as well as coffee and hot cocoa. If you'd like, a hot cocoa, tea, and coffee table is often a crowd favorite. Include milk and whipped cream, as well as sugar cubes (perhaps colored with red and green food coloring), sweetener, and even vanilla or mint flavored syrups. Candy canes may also be dipped into hot chocolate to give it a minty flavor. Serve each of the beverages in festive mugs with pictures of snow men, Christmas trees, and other holiday decorations. A Dessert Table: Your dessert table can include a number of options. Christmas cookies in the shape of angels, starts, trees, and stockings can be frosted and covered in red, green, and gold sprinkles. If you'll have children at the party, allow them to decorate their own sugar cookies and share them with their friends. Gingerbread men are another crowd pleaser around the holidays, as is pumpkin pie. You may wish to have brownies baked with red and green M&M's inside (or topped with miniature candies in the same colors). Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6612221
